Planning Your Civil Ceremony in Ireland
If you are planning a legally recognised marriage ceremony in Ireland, there are several legal requirements that must be completed before your wedding day.
All couples must:
♥ Give a minimum of three months' notice of their intention to marry by meeting with a Registrar in person
♥ Sign a declaration confirming there is no legal impediment to the marriage
♥ Receive a Marriage Registration Form (MRF) once all legal requirements have been satisfied
Following your Registrar appointment, you will receive your Marriage Registration Form (often referred to as the "Green Folder"). Certain sections must be completed by the hotel before your ceremony. Simply provide these documents to our wedding team by email or in person, and we will complete and return them promptly.
Please note that you do not need to reside in County Monaghan to marry here.
Civil Ceremony
A Civil Ceremony is a legally recognised, non-religious marriage ceremony conducted by a Registrar.
Civil ceremonies in Ireland are generally available:
♥ Monday to Friday
♥ Between 9.00am and 5.00pm
♥ Subject to availability through the local Civil Registration Office
As these ceremonies are secular by law, they cannot include religious prayers, hymns, or spiritual references.
We recommend allowing approximately 20–40 minutes for your ceremony.
Spiritualist Ceremony
A Spiritualist Ceremony is a legally recognised marriage ceremony conducted by a registered Spiritualist Solemniser.
These ceremonies can take place:
♥ Seven days a week
♥ Including weekends and public holidays
Spiritualist ceremonies offer complete flexibility and may include prayers, hymns, readings, music, and spiritual elements if desired. They can also be tailored to respectfully reflect the beliefs of both partners, creating a deeply personal ceremony.
We recommend allowing approximately 30–40 minutes.
Humanist Ceremony
Humanist ceremonies are legally recognised, non-religious marriage ceremonies conducted by an authorised Humanist Solemniser.
Humanist ceremonies are available:
♥ Seven days a week
♥ Including weekends and public holidays
These ceremonies are highly personalised and celebrate your relationship through meaningful readings, music, and personal vows. As Humanist ceremonies are secular, they do not include references to religious beliefs, deities, or an afterlife.
Please allow approximately 30–40 minutes for your ceremony.
Your ceremony marks the beginning of one of life's most memorable moments, and we would be honoured to be part of your special day.
